Egypt's Plans to Become the Next Yachting Destination

The Egyptian government has allocated special funds for promoting yacht tourism. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly's administration has launched a new online platform to attract yachters, complemented by various incentives and promotional strategies to bolster the industry.

Egypt is home to the Red Sea, with its crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs, making it a long-standing paradise for divers, snorkelers and kite surfers alike. Popular diving spots like Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, and Marsa Alam provide access to world-class dive sites, including the famous Ras Mohammed National Park and the SS Thistlegorm wreck. Kitesurfing enthusiasts flock to areas such as El Gouna and Dahab, where steady winds and pristine waters create ideal conditions for the sport. Alongside these activities, Egypt's marinas, such as those in Sahl Hasheesh and Ain Sokhna, offer top-notch facilities for yachters, making it an attractive destination for sailing adventures.

The Egyptian government is taking actions to promote their country's offerings and develop a simplified process to support the yachting industry within the country. Transport Minister Kamel Al-Wazir highlighted recent measures to simplify the entry and navigation of international yachts in Egyptian marinas. He also mentioned collaborative promotional efforts with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

These initiatives include a promotional film about Egypt's tourist ports and marinas, created by the Tourism Promotion Authority, and a video showcasing streamlined procedures for tourist yachts. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also distributing these materials through Egyptian embassies globally.

Tourism and Antiquities Minister Ahmed Issa emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in boosting yacht tourism, which is crucial for the economies of coastal cities. He confirmed that specific funds have been set aside for yacht tourism promotion, highlighting its economic significance. The Ministry is committed to global promotion through websites and niche magazines, as reported by Daily News Egypt.

Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad discussed strategic meetings to select islands for tourism development, with plans to offer diverse services to enhance their appeal to visitors.

Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie outlined measures to increase tourist yacht arrivals and encourage longer stays, facilitating travel between Egypt's tourist destinations and increasing foreign currency revenue.
