Sindhalah Island is set to begin operating in from 2024 with a range of options to be made available to yachting clientele in the Red Sea.

The Saudi Arabian giga project NEOM has chosen global superyacht services provider Burgess Yachts to cooperate in the areas of charter, sales and boat maintenance at its Sindalah Island yachting destination in the Red Sea. IGY, MB92, JLS and BWA Yachting have already been appointed to help with the new yachting hub.

Sindalah Island is set to start operating from 2024 as a luxury yachting destination and a key part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy whose core function is to provide divestment projects away from fossil fuels. It is part of a huge Red Sea coast investment which also includes Amaala, the Red Sea Islands, Jeddah and the Line City within the NEOM project.

A central part of Sindalah Island is an 86-berth marina for yachts up to 50m (164ft), plus 75 offshore buoy moorings for larger vessels up to 180m (591ft). Under this new partnership, Burgess will offer guests a comprehensive range of services catering to their yachting needs.

NEOM City and Sindalah are located off the coast of NEOM in northwest. Saudi Arabia and the island will be the first of NEOM’s assets to be unveiled, offering guests “an idyllic luxury lifestyle”. The aim is to make the Red Sea a winter alternative to the Caribbean for superyachts that have been in the Mediterranean during the summer.

The services Burges will provide include yacht management, charter and charter management, sales and purchase, yacht insurance, new build and refit projects, yacht marketing and procurement.

Antoni Vives, chief urban development and islands officer at NEOM, says: “We are committed to becoming a distinctive yachting destination and delivering world-class services to guests and yachts visiting the Red Sea. We recognise chartering as a critical aspect of the yachting experience. Many of our guests visiting Sindalah will be looking forward to experiencing a nautical lifestyle by chartering a yacht.

“Also, yacht owners and managers will be happy to offer their prized possessions for chartering in the Red Sea. Our partnership with Burgess will help us to ensure that this critical activity is enabled at Sindalah from the time of launch. The demand for superyacht services in the region has grown exponentially over the past decade, triggering the decision for Burgess to establish a Middle East presence in 2016.”

Jonathan Hind, managing director of Burgess Middle East, says: “We are very excited to be a part of this new development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at NEOM. Sindalah will offer superyacht clientele everything they want and need for a fantastic experience, and we will be on hand to make this happen.”
